Job Summary
The Civil Engineer I position is responsible for applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks, exercises limited judgment on details of work and acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Essential Functions
- Prepares drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD.
- Collect data and gather information.
- Assist with proposals to provide professional services.
- Prepare as-built record drawings.
- Prepare permit applications.
- Observe construction activities.
- Manage time wisely, and requests assistance when direction is needed.
- Receive close supervision on assignments.
- Receive guidance, when necessary, on unconventional or complex problems.
- Travel to and from work at remote project sites for extended durations.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively.
- Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.
- Skilled in interpersonal communication to assist staff and occasionally clients and contractors.
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to travel and perform field work in adverse arctic conditions.
- Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Skilled in facilitating public meetings (public speaking).
- Knowledge of civil construction techniques and sequencing.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam .
- Valid driver’s license.
Education and Experience
- Experience with hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS is .

- Mobility: must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.
- Hearing: must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
- Visual Acuity: must be adequate to perform the above listed tasks in a safe manner and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Lifting: must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
