Civil Engineer (Municipal)
Responsibilities What your day will look likeProject Management Technical lead and design on projects related to municipal and/or land development infrastructure including water supply, sewers, roads, site servicing and storm water managementContribute technical expertise to functional design, detailed design and construction administration activities of multidisciplinary project teamsManagement of municipal and land development infrastructure projects related to water supply, sewers, roads, site servicing and storm water managementRegularly interact with project team members including planners, environmental scientists, engineers and technologistsRegular interaction with clients, agencies, utilities and other project stakeholdersWorking knowledge of municipal servicing standards and provincial regulatory requirementsBusiness Development Identify and develop new business opportunitiesLead submissions in response to Requests for ProposalsLeadership in the maintenance of existing client relationships including preparation of proposals and statement of qualificationBusiness travel to other Dillon offices upon requestLearning & DevelopmentCommit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional developmentInput to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoringContribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Qualifications What you will need to succeedA degree in civil engineeringLicensed to practice as a professional engineer in Newfoundland and Labrador or New Brunswick, or eligible to be licensed within six months8-10 years' professional experience, preferably in the consulting industryProven leadership and business development capabilities Experience Demonstrated success in the leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and business developmentExperienced in the design of various municipal infrastructure including water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, storm water management works, underground and surface site servicing works, and/or waste management facilitiesExperience with trenchless technologies and applications would be an assetExperience with stormwater management, wastewater and water distribution calculations and modelling applications would be an assetIn depth knowledge of contract administration services and requirements, including Master Municipal Construction DocumentsExpert knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approvals requirementsDemonstrated skills in public and agency consultationStrong proficiency in proposal and report writing, presentations, communications, organization and interpersonal skillsExceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essentialWhy choose DillonDillon is powered by people who are technically proficient, passionate about socially important projects, and motivated to deliver superior, tangible results.
