AECOM's Belfast Structural Engineering Team has an immediate requirement for a Civil Engineer to assist our senior Civil Engineer with producing designs, modeling, and preparing technical drawings. This role will see the successful candidate working primarily on the civil engineering aspects of large and complex building projects. Filling this position aligns with the Company’s growth strategy within Building Engineering and the diversification of the Belfast Structural Team, which delivers work locally, nationally, and globally and offers technical support to the wider AECOM business. Responsibilities: Reporting and working closely with Senior/Principal Engineers, supporting the Team and wider business, ensuring projects are delivered on the program, to budget, and to a high quality. Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Requirements: Familiar with the design of storm and foul drainage networks, including the application of SUDS and attenuation systems, preferably with experience in using Micro-Drainage or similar modeling software. Experienced in designing and specifying roads and pavements, including sub-base make-ups for variable sub-grade and ground improvement conditions. Skilled in the design of reinforced concrete retaining walls and the application of other proprietary retaining systems. Knowledgeable in the application and processes involved in obtaining statutory approvals in respect of discharge consents and applying these statutory requirements to relevant civils designs. The ability to converse verbally and textually with statutory bodies to obtain information and directives needed to develop compliant designs. Accomplished in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD or Civils3D in the preparation of civil engineering design drawings. Have a general understanding of building structures and their servicing requirements, specifically those that relate to the design and specification of the civil engineering infrastructure across the wider site. Preferred Qualification: Experience within a UK or Irish civil engineering-related infrastructure environment, likely in a private consultancy, government, or related statutory body. Civil Engineering degree, CEng(Hons), Meng(Hons), or equivalent, with an aspiration to work towards Chartered status (MICE).
