About the Role
We are seeking a Civil Engineer - Technical Process Manager to join clients team working on a range of critical infrastructure projects supporting the ship and submarine sustainment programmes. In this role, you will manage the delivery of heavy civil infrastructure designs, focusing primarily on dry dock systems, ensuring they meet technical and operational requirements for sustainment capabilities.
Main Purpose of Role
As the Technical Process Manager, you will be responsible for providing Civil Infrastructure Engineering Technical Process Management support across all sub-packages in the External Works package. These include:
- Road & Hard Standings
- Surface and Foul Water Drainage
- Ducts & Trenches
- Security Infrastructure
You will work closely with the External Works Principal Engineer and the leads of the four main sub-packages to manage key project documentation and ensure the integration of technical processes. This includes managing safety cases, change control, and interfacing with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Sub-Packages: Focus on technical documentation and systems engineering processes for all four sub-packages, ensuring the integration of safety, change control, and technical governance.
- Document Management: Manage technical documentation (IAF, IRL, TQ, CE, EWN, FMs) and ensure compliance with project and safety requirements.
- External Works Design Support: Assist in the detailed design phase for various external works elements, including facility boundaries, roadways, pavements, waste management, and submarine dock access.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with design teams, the main contractor, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth interface management and delivery of technical requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Competencies
- Technical Expertise: Experience in civil infrastructure, particularly in external works design elements such as roadways, drainage, and security infrastructure.
- Project Documentation: Knowledge of project management documentation (PMP, SOW, PQP), quality assurance, and design phases (RIBA).
- Stakeholder & Interface Management: Strong communication and coordination skills to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating across various roles and responsibilities.
- Quality Management: Understanding of project QA processes, design governance, and compliance with regulations such as CDM.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CDE (Common Data Environment) is beneficial.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Ideally, Chartered or well-progressed towards Chartered status with the relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).
