Job Title: Civil Engineering Estimator\n\nJob Description:\n\nWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in heavy civils, reinforced concrete (RC) frames, and concrete cores, with the ability to prepare comprehensive take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs). This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of complex and high-value projects within the construction industry.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nEstimating and Cost Analysis:\n\nPrepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil engineering projects, including RC frames and concrete cores.\n\nAnalyze project drawings, specifications, and requirements to develop accurate take-offs and BOQs.\n\nEvaluate project risks and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities.\n\nTender Preparation:\n\nCollaborate with the pre-construction and project management teams to compile comprehensive tender submissions.\n\nLiaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate cost estimates.\n\nReview and assess tender documents, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.\n\nCollaboration and Communication:\n\nWork closely with design, planning, and commercial teams to ensure alignment of estimates with project objectives.\n\nAttend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients and stakeholders as required.\n\nMaintain clear communication with all parties to ensure accurate interpretation of project specifications.\n\nDocumentation and Reporting:\n\nPrepare and maintain detailed documentation of estimates, take-offs, and BOQs for internal and external use.\n\nProvide regular updates to senior management on project cost estimates and progress.\n\nEnsure all estimates and related documentation are completed within required deadlines.\n\nRequirements:\n\nProven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering or construction industry.\n\nIn-depth knowledge of heavy civils, RC frames, and concrete cores.\n\nProficient in producing take-offs and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from engineering drawings and specifications.\n\nStrong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.\n\nProficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, CostX, or similar).\n\nExcellent analytical and numerical skills with a keen attention to detail.\n\nStrong communication and negotiation skills.\n\nAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.\n\nRelevant qualifications in civil engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field (degree or equivalent).\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nMembership in a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or ICE.\n\nExperience with large-scale or complex civil engineering projects.\n\nFamiliarity with current market trends and pricing in the construction industry.\n\nIf you are a detail-oriented and experienced Civil Engineering Estimator with a passion for delivering exceptional results, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.\n\nIf you're interested in this opportunity, then please get in touch today with our Commercial Specialist Mark Harris, or apply with your CV.\n\nBuilding Careers UK specialises in Construction and Property recruitment and serves as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
