Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to be based in Pickering, ON.
This is a temporary 4 month term expected to begin in May 2024.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Civil and Municipal design for highway, transit, and roadway projects including municipal roads, highways, structural and transit infrastructure.

Design for grading and drainage, utility protection and/or relocation, roads, parking lots, and staging design

Preparation of drawings, specifications, and quantity take-off's

Design of roadway/ highway infrastructure in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, standards, etc. Typically used standards include TAC, MTO and OPS standards.

Producing and checking a wide variety of designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details

Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

Utilize and maintain technical databases and file structures within project files.

Work with tight schedules, be flexible, and contribute in a high performing design team.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
-
Must currently be in a relevant Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation

Must have completed their second year of their bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, AutoTurn, InRoads/ OpenRoads, InfraWorks).

Relevant internship or professional work experience in support of transportation design.

Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities and interpersonal skills.
-
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, Microsoft Project, and standard office software.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Skilled in technical writing, communicating and presenting and capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.
