Civil Nuclear Business Specialist

Your new company You will be working for a high-profile government organisation who are working towards sustaining and developing the UK's energy security. Your new role This is a high profile Nuclear Business Specialist role in which you will be engaging with overseas customers and investors to maximise UK opportunities. You will be directly involved in setting the department's priorities in supporting export and investment in the nuclear sector through your export knowledge. This role will be for 3 days per week, You will be required to meet with Executive level representatives within the nuclear sector and provide a strong case for why investment in the UK is the best option or why they should export to a priority market. You will need to meet with organisations to understand their technical developments, challenges and opportunities and provide the energy team with advice on how this is likely to impact export or investment objectives. You will need to provide advice to Government Departments on how their policies are likely to impact trade and investment in the nuclear sector. You will be required to upskill energy teams in overseas markets. Sub Sector To provide advice on the development of advanced nuclear technologies, identifying key technologies and potential applications, to shape the team's strategy to support the growth of these technologies To provide advice on and help influence UK policy interventions and requirements to create the right market conditions for the development and deployment of advanced nuclear technologies to enable the UK to gain early mover advantage to maximise the economic, industrial, and commercial opportunities. To work with the UK supply chain to ensure they are aware of the growing market for advanced nuclear technologies and that they are taking the necessary actions to position for these opportunities. Market Based Support the Nuclear Sector Team and Post to undertake market / project assessments on civil nuclear opportunities across the nuclear life cycle to ensure resources are focused on opportunities that best align with UK capability and offer the best commercial prospects To help formulate campaign strategies to position the UK to ensure overseas customers recognise UK capability To engage with overseas customers to help shape and influence the approach they take on nuclear programmes / projects to create opportunities for UK solutions To work with the UK supply chain to develop consortia, value propositions and bids to target and position UK companies for specific opportunities Inward Investment To identify weaknesses and gaps in UK supply chain capability, to target inward investment work on building and expanding UK capability and avoiding investment that just displaces / competes with existing UK capability To help develop UK market propositions and to support posts to attract inward investors To work with potential overseas investors to ensure they are fully briefed on UK market developments and facilitate introductions to key stakeholders and partners. What you'll need to succeed This is an SC Cleared role, please only apply if this is something that you have already obtained: Strong technical knowledge of emerging advanced nuclear technologies (SMRs, AMRs, and Fusion) and their various potential applications (electricity, hydrogen/synthetic fuel production, heart for industrial processes, medical isotopes, etc) Strong technical knowledge across the nuclear life cycle from fuel services, new build, operations and waste management and decommissioning Experience of managing complex nuclear projects / programmes Commercial experience of leading and managing capture strategies for contracts, especially in international markets International Business Development experience. Deep knowledge of UK supply chain experience and capability and wide range of industry contacts Understanding of the complex regulatory and policy environment for international nuclear trade Extensive contacts within the nuclear industry. You should be able to reach out to most major nuclear companies without introduction. What you'll get in return A competitive daily rate of £600 per day.
