Job Description
The Project Design Engineer role within our Marietta, Georgia office is directly involved in developing preliminary design reports, detailed design, and contract administration for water and sewer transmission and distribution mains, both pressurized and gravity. You will provide task management and client service interaction throughout the planning, permitting, and construction phases. A successful candidate must demonstrate specialized technical knowledge of potable water and sanitary sewer, master planning, hydraulic distribution system modeling, and transmission or collection systems design, and possess the ability to exercise judgment within established organizational values, policies, and procedures.
Required Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Responsible for the planning, design, and construction of potable water, gravity sewer, and force main pipeline projects, and coordinating with other engineering and technical staff necessary to successfully complete the projects.
- Lead and support the design efforts of water resources and site development projects.
- Perform hydraulic, hydrologic, and water quality modeling, and geospatial evaluations.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3-D software. Must be able to design and update plans that contain grading, pipe networks, profile views, surfaces, etc.
- Thorough understanding of the processes involved in the planning, permitting, and design of municipal and private projects for water and sewer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering.
- Demonstrated time management skills, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with and establish good working relationships with subordinates, coworkers, , customers, public officials, and other governmental officials.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize situations and goals to maximize available resources. Problem solving skills to analyze complex problems and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Experience in the preparation of engineering proposals.
- Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Strong analytical and computational abilities.
