About the roleThis successful applicant will carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values: Undertake routine and complex respiratory clinical measurement procedures with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.Acquire, apply, and disseminate knowledge of Queensland Health policies, procedures, and guidelines in delivering a safe and effective service to our community. With advanced knowledge and skills, exercise independent professional and clinical judgement to make and guide informed decisions in the management and conduct of respiratory clinical measurements.Using contemporary international standards, develop and update clinical respiratory scientific policies and procedures applicable to service provision within the Respiratory Investigation Unit.Contribute to quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure an accurate and quality service for our stakeholders.Use auditing skills to provide feedback to practitioners in the Respiratory Investigation Unit team to ensure clinical practice is in accordance with international standards for respiratory function testing and laboratory policy and procedure.Provide clinical practice supervision to HP3 Respiratory Clinical Measurement Scientists through competency training and skill development in infrequent and complex respiratory investigations.Maintain respiratory clinical measurement practice knowledge and professional expertise through active learning by engaging in internal and external professional development opportunities.Instigate and contribute to research activities within the Respiratory Investigation Unit and the Department of Thoracic Medicine.Liaise with tertiary institutions to organise university placements and promote the clinical measurement profession.Act as a high-level educator in respiratory clinical measurement through coordination and facilitation of training for students on university placement. Contribute to the professional development of medical, nursing, and other allied health professionals by providing tutorials or lectures pertaining to respiratory clinical measurement.At the direction of the Director, Respiratory Sciences assist in higher level laboratory management activities such as recruitment, procurement, and larger scale service improvement projects.
