The Clinical Operations Manager serves four main facets at the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic:
- Provides oversight of evening clinic operations and the full patient care cycle to ensure optimal continuity of care from a clinical perspective.
- Provides case management and serves as a ‘second set of eyes’ on medical charts to ensure follow up occurs as ordered or as needed
- Provides oversight of the clinical staff and assistance with the oversight of the preparation, execution, and overall flow of clinic sessions and support staff.
- Provides clinical support to the Executive Director, Director of Volunteers and Engagement, and Director of Patient Services as necessary
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Serves as the Case Management Nurse for the evening clinics and review charts and handles any necessary follow up with the patient.
- Performs onboarding tasks of all new clinical volunteers including screenings for new Provider Requests, License validation, /Training Assignments, and Volunteer System Registration.
- Develops and/or leads New Volunteer and training in areas relating to clinical volunteers and/or staff development.
- Coordinates volunteers and staff for coverage and procedures to ensure needs of the clinic are met in a timely and effective manner.
- Supervises clinical staff, including Charge Nurses, PA provider, lab technicians, and pharmacy technicians.
- Ensure full continuity of patient care by monitoring all aspects of the patient cycle.
- Supervises and assists volunteers in performing their duties when appropriate.
- Assist volunteers with any clinical process related questions during clinic sessions and manage workflows and processes.
- Prepares chart reviews, performs pre-schedule screening of patients, and schedules patients as needed
- Documents (or updates) clinical workflows, policies & procedures and protocols and communicates information to entire staff
- Other office administration needs as assigned or as requested by Executive Director or Medical Director
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- BI-LINGUAL in SPANISH (oral and written)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to foster a smoothly functioning Clinic operation through timely and effective problem resolution.
- Strong computer skills including ability to learn & navigate an EMR system (AthenaNet)
- Self-Directed/Detail-oriented/Excellent follow through with minimal supervision
- The ability to work in a team-based environment in a manner that fosters cooperation.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree (BSN)
- RN Required
- 1 – 2 years of supervisory experience required
- 1 - 2 years of operations experience required
- Previous experience in volunteer-based practice helpful
