Morris Midwest WI & IL, a regional distributor of CNC machine tools, tooling and accessories, and related engineering and support services, is seeking an ambitious and conscientious Applications Engineer to report to the Elgin, IL location. We are looking for a Manufacturing/Applications Engineer with a background in CNC Machinery. This role will provide exciting opportunities to work for a dynamic company in a fast-paced, growing industry. Summary of Responsibility:
As an Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating, planning, designing and installing machinery or equipment in an industrial environment using state-of-the-art instruments, advanced computer systems and knowledge of programming and engineering.

- Conducting pre-sale activities and reviews including customer visits, evaluation of opportunities, machine assessment and recommendations, part processing recommendations and development of turnkey proposals
- Making accurate cost estimates, writing engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
- Programing and setting up CNC lathes, CNC vertical or horizontal mills
- Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and/ or multi-tasking machines
- Possessing and maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of product lines represented by the company
Qualifications & Competencies:
- 2+ year Technical Degree in Manufacturing Technology ()
- 3+ years of Machine Programming and Set-Up Experience (Okuma/Tsugami Experience )
- Fanuc Control Experience
- Mitsubishi Control Experience
- CAM Programming Experience
- G&M Code Programming Experience
- Tolerance for travel and overnight stays (Home/Customer Sites -> 80/20 split)
- Willingness to be trained into other machines beyond our flagship lines, Okuma & Tsugami.
