SUMMARY

The CNC Process Engineer’s primary purpose is to create and oversee manufacturing processes, machines and tools to ensure high quality parts are delivered on time to internal and external customers while maximizing overall efficiency. Responsible for optimizing equipment and processes to meet and continually improve upon production targets for safety, quality, delivery and productivity. As a technical expert on the team, expected to demonstrate and support a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation by being a positive influence to help create the right outcomes. This is a crucial role in achieving our production targets and setting a foundation for the future of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance manufacturing processes, machines, and tools to meet company targets for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Develop standards for tools, fixtures, and processes for the manufacturing department.
  • Create work documents and train team members.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding the status of orders, opportunities for improvement, and ongoing projects.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor teammates on company standards and best practices.
  • Support training as required.
  • Meet project targets on-time per project deadlines.
  • Work with Manufacturing team to resolve problems as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage fixtures and tools to maximize over-all equipment effectiveness by working with planning team to understand current and future demand.
  • Maintain shopfloor layouts.
  • Design and make machining fixtures and tools.
  • Support CNC Programmer in creating and maintaining CNC programs for production parts.
  • Assist with planning & prioritization of operations to ensure maximum performance, minimize delays, and meet company goals.
  • Work with quality to improve first pass acceptance of machined parts.
  • Improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and efficiency.
  • Work with design team to suggest and implement design, drawing and specification changes to reduce errors and improve company targets.
  • Champion the company vision, mission, initiatives, and culture.
  • Perform other related duties as needed and assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering) or Certificate or associate degree in CNC Machining Technology or Programming or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years, 10 years , of CNC fabrication, programming, and set-up in a manufacturing environment. Experience with Makino A51nx .
  • Minimum 5 years of experience, 10 years , with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam ).
  • Knowledge, understanding, and demonstrated application of the principles of LEAN manufacturing (Six Sigma/Lean Certification ).
  • Proven service oriented, team player who takes initiative to get the right things done.
  • Fluid knowledge of G&M code programming and macro programming.
  • Proficient on manual lathes and mills.
  • Ability to independently lead and manage projects of 3-5 team members
  • Documented formal process improvement experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Solid working knowledge of quality, design and validation tools Dimensional Management, GD&T and Tolerance Stack-up.
  • Proficient using 2D and 3D modeling software (AutoCAD, Inventor).
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret dimensional inspection reports.
  • Ability to support a multi shift production environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with co-workers, shop personnel, and outside vendors.
