Commercial/Civil CONSTRUCTION Estimator

Job Summary: NOTE: This position can be remote for the right, qualified candidate.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CONSTRUCTION Estimator with experience in commercial and/or civil construction projects. The Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications, project plans, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Review project proposals and plans to determine the scope and pricing for materials, subcontractors, equipment, and labor.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to determine project requirements and constraints.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns using estimating software and Excel.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Prepare and present bid proposals and cost estimates to management or clients.
  • Track and maintain records of historical cost data for use in future estimates.
  • Identify potential cost-saving strategies and value engineering options.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
  • Ensure estimates align with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in commercial and/or civil construction estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite tools.
  • Excellent math, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
