Job Summary: NOTE: This position can be remote for the right, qualified candidate.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CONSTRUCTION Estimator with experience in commercial and/or civil construction projects. The Estimator is responsible for evaluating bid specifications, project plans, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for projects. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Review project proposals and plans to determine the scope and pricing for materials, subcontractors, equipment, and labor.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to determine project requirements and constraints.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns using estimating software and Excel.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare and present bid proposals and cost estimates to management or clients.
- Track and maintain records of historical cost data for use in future estimates.
- Identify potential cost-saving strategies and value engineering options.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
- Ensure estimates align with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5+ years of experience in commercial and/or civil construction estimating.
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, HeavyBid, or similar).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office Suite tools.
- Excellent math, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
