Commercial HVAC Technician
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Perform diagnoses, repairs, maintenance inspections, and installations of commercial air conditioning, refrigeration, electricalsystems, and equipment for commercial HVAC customers. Work with various types of tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.Computer skills primarily with cloud-based applications in the field via iOS devices. This position comes with a plan for growth in theHVAC trade.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnoses HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical system performance through observation, testing, and setup.
- Uses cloud-based technology to perform HVAC maintenance inspections on commercial systems.
- Disassembles and reassembles commercial equipment to perform troubleshooting and planned maintenance.
- Takes readings from HVAC equipment and makes timely entries into appropriate logs.
- Identifies and recommends needed repairs from diagnosis, preventative, and/or predictive maintenance agreements.
- Operates hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment to perform repairs to the equipment and/or mechanical system.
- Give and receive written and verbal instructions. Assists higher-level technicians as directed.
- Complete work orders, task lists, and documents to verify work performed as needed to conform to customer invoicing requirements.
- Complete documentation of invoicing data based on hours worked and materials or equipment used to perform the service.
- Use required personal protective equipment while satisfying all work requests.
- Operate and properly maintain a commercial service vehicle and trailer.
- Physical ability to work in extreme environments and conditions, sometimes for an extended period.
- Physical ability to lift and carry 50 - 100 lbs. without assisted lifting equipment.
- Maintain inventory stock on service vehicle.
- Reconcile time sheets for supervisor review.
- Performs other duties as required by the position.
EXPERIENCE:Proficiency and competence to effectively diagnose, repair, install, and maintain commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electricalequipment. Desire to grow in the HVAC trade.
JOB SKILLS AND EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent; diploma from a recognized trade or technical school.
- EPA universal required.
- Maintain ongoing required continued education, professional licenses, and/or certifications as required by the position.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently verbally communicate with peers, supervisors, and customers.
- Diagnostic ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training.
- Meets the requirements of the company vehicle driving policy.
- Ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle as evidenced by past driving performance record and adherence to all company safety requirements.
- Ability to competently use a variety of gauges, meters, measuring instruments, hand and power tools, and equipment.
- Supply own hand tools.
- good math, verbal, and written skills. Good interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills that include Windows and iOS knowledge including all Office and iOS products. Strong work ethic.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
