Commercial Manager - Marine ( Not a Legal Role )


Our Qatar based client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commercial Manager who will be responsible for the monitoring and delivery of the Estimating strategy aligned with our Business Plan and Revenue forecast.

This role involves managing a team of estimating experts to perform sales, bidding, and tendering processes effectively, ensuring alignment with our company's business objectives. 

The incumbent will be working closely with the Chief Commercial and Business Development Officer. 

Key Accountabilities

  1. Leadership: Serve as the single point of accountability for the estimating team, providing guidance to ensure accuracy, quality, responsiveness, and an improved bid success rate.
  2. Risk Management: Review client specifications and Terms and Conditions to manage business risks and revenue streams effectively.
  3. Planning: Provide input into cyclical and weekly planning processes as required.
  4. Tender Management: Prepare the Tender / Order Review Checklist (IMS-COM-F-0002) and provide recommendations for bidding, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and pricing strategies.
  5. Resource Allocation: Manage the allocation of estimators to quotes, ensuring resource planning and leveling to meet on-time quotation KPIs.
  6. Resource Utilization: Ensure full utilization of estimation resources based on workload studies and the complexity of work in relation to staff skill levels.
  7. Client Engagement: Submit quotations and actively follow up with Owners/Global Agents to meet client needs and secure work.
  8. Performance Analysis: Analyze unsuccessful bids to identify trends and provide management with corrective actions.
  9. Health & Safety: Prioritize the wellbeing of yourself and colleagues, adhere to health & safety protocols, participate in wellbeing programs, and promptly report any concerns regarding wellbeing to foster a culture of best practice.
  10. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer) Class 1 (Motor Ship), or equivalent.

Experience

  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role.
