The Commercial Road Service Tire Technician is the backbone of our success and this position is one of the first steps in your journey with Barnwell House of Tires. We have a commitment to growing our people and we routinely promote from within.
The Road Service Tire Technician performs tire repairs, replacements & general service to tires and wheels at customer's location, on the road or at the shop.
JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Adheres to all Barnwell House of Tires’ safety protocols and works in a safe manner;
- Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner. Use all provided safety equipment including seat belts, gloves, jack stands, wheel chocks, safety glasses, and cages.
- Communicate all work performed via legible writing on tags, work orders and/or invoices.
- Perform daily maintenance to vehicle, tools and equipment.
- Maintain professional relationship with customers
- Dismounting and mounting any type of tire on drop center, semi-drop center and multi-piece rims to service customer's needs as deemed safe by company policy.
- Mount, dismount, balance, replace, and repair commercial truck tires
- Ability to recognize repairable tires and properly perform repair.
- Repair or replace tires on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks
- Raise vehicle with hydraulic jack, use air tools and heavy hand-held tools
- Change truck tires on the roadside, customer location or shop
- Inflating of tires to prescribed PSI per load requirements.
- Determining repairable tire conditions and making such repairs.
- Removing tires for retreading or repair as needed.
- Match mounting, match mating dual assemblies, and radial runout as necessary.
- Performing roadside service calls on a continuous basis.
- Properly executing required billing documents (accurate and legible) then submitting to management via legible writing on tags, work orders and/or invoices.
- Exercising proper maintenance of assigned Service Vehicle including appearance and maintenance of on-board service equipment and tools.
- Complying with DOT regulations including driver's license for class of truck operated.
- Following all driving rules.
- Complying with OSHA regulations and safety requirements.
- Wearing proper PPE, using cages, and following all other safety policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.
- Willing to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.
- Must be willing to perform service calls on nights and/or weekends on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned as business needs require.

Work Environment
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Exposure to various chemicals used in cleaning, lubrication, etc. as well as changes in temperature throughout the seasons.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Training/Education:
- High school diploma/GED
- TIA Commercial Tires Service Certified
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet DOT guidelines
Experience:
- 1+ years previous commercial tire experience
The salary range for the position of Commercial Road Service Tire Technician is $19-$27 per hour. If you do not have road service experience the salary range will be $17 - $23 per hour.. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
