The estimator will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost estimates that align with project specifications while also navigating industry regulations and market trends. Ultimately, the Construction Cost Estimator II ensures that our projects not only meet quality standards but also adhere to budget constraints, thereby contributing to the overall success and profitability of the organization.

  • Review and analyze project plans and specifications to gain a thorough understanding of the scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment required for construction projects.
  • Develop and maintain a database of cost information related to construction projects.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather quotes and assess capabilities.
  • Prepare and submit detailed bid proposals in accordance with client requirements.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and ascertain conditions impacting the estimate.
  • Collaborate with project managers to establish project timelines and phases.
  • Assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements with subcontractors.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust estimates based on economic conditions.
  • Review change orders and assess their impact on project costs.
  • Prepare cost variance reports to track budget expenditures and forecasts.
  • Assist in establishing project budgets and financial tracking mechanisms.
  • Provide ongoing support to project teams during construction for cost management.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and industry standards.
  • Utilize software tools for cost estimating and project management.
  • Train and mentor junior estimators and support staff in estimating processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in construction cost estimating.
  • Proficient with cost estimating software such as Sage, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts and procurement processes.
  • Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional certification in cost estimation (e.g., Certified Cost Estimator/Analyst) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety practices in construction.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project conditions and requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to travel to job sites as required.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience working with subcontractors.
