Role Overview

The Construction Director will oversee all construction activities for a significant water infrastructure project. This includes the execution of pipelines, pumping stations, and storage tanks in urban and densely populated areas. The role requires expertise in construction management, specifically within water infrastructure, and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a consultancy environment. The primary goal is to ensure project delivery on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight: Lead all construction activities related to water infrastructure elements.
  • Planning & Execution: Develop and implement construction plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to technical specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of construction activities.
  • Site Management: Oversee contractor supervision, site inspections, and issue resolution.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track construction progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Safety & Environment: Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Contract Management: Evaluate contractor performance, approve payments, and ensure contractual compliance.
  • Risk Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to address potential delays or issues.
  • Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment among team members.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Construction Engineering (or related fields).
  • Over 15-20 years of experience in large-scale water infrastructure projects.
  • Professional accreditation or chartered membership.

Expertise:

  • Proven experience in constructing water transmission pipelines, pumping stations, and storage tanks.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills within a consultancy setting.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) systems.
  • Familiarity with local regulations and industry standards.
