If you would like to make a difference in people’s lives, and become an expert in your field, please apply for the challenging roles we have available.This Sector is looking for a talented professional to complement their team, in the form of a Construction Engineer.We welcome your application if you meet the requirements, listed below, for this position.The below listed responsibilities and requirements is assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.Job Summary:GIBB requires a Professional Construction Engineer in the Rail EPCM Environment who will be responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects related to rail infrastructure, such as railway lines, bridges, tunnels, stations, and other rail facilities. They work closely with architects, design engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure that construction projects are designed, planned, and executed effectively.Key Responsibilities: Managing and overseeing the construction phases of rail infrastructure construction projects from start to closeout.Collaborating with architects, design engineers, and project managers to ensure that projects are designed and planned to be constructed simply, safely, and effectively.Ensuring that the construction phase is completed within budget and on time.Ensuring that rail infrastructure projects meet regulatory requirements and adhere to safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.Collaborating with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that rail infrastructure projects are executed effectively, and managing any issues or conflicts that arise.Managing the process to ensure claims are minimised and any potential disputes are resolved swiftly and amicably.Ensuring that all project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports, are maintained and up to date.Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to senior management.Conducting regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to team members.Ensuring that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and any changes to the project plan.Managing and monitoring project risks and developing risk mitigation plans as needed. Job Requirements Qualifications and Experience Degree or BTech (Civil, Elec, Mech) (copies of results to be provided)Experience within the Construction EnvironmentMatric.(copies of results to be provided)10 – 20 years Construction and Resident Engineer experienceRegistered with ECSA as a Professional (copy of registration to be provided)Registered with SACPCMP (PrCPM advantageous) (copy of registration to be provided) Core Competencies/Requirements Have a strong technical background in rail infrastructure construction engineering, as well as excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skillsMust be able to work independently.Effectively manage multiple rail infrastructure projects simultaneously, communicate with stakeholders at all levels, and manage project risks and issuesMust be able to guide and lead supporting staff.Have knowledge of construction processes and standards, as well as experience with contract management and project budgetingExcellent leadership and teamwork skills are essential for success in this roleMust have MS Office experience
