An Estimator for Friedrich Watkins of Tampa, LLC would be an outgoing, entrepreneurial, construction professional who is looking for hands-on experience in all aspects of a mid-size commercial construction business. Day-to-day you will work directly with the President, Vice President and Project Managers performing and assisting with all estimating and preconstruction duties of the company. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-driven individual to grow with a thriving company.

The company’s President, Tim Ruff has been in the Tampa commercial construction market since 1985.

The company’s Vice President, Mike Bucalo has been in the commercial construction market since 2007.

Both of the company officers have relationships with many key architects, engineers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers in the Tampa Bay market that have led to success. Estimating:

• Participate in Preconstruction Team meetings to analyze each project and the appropriate strategies
• Work directly with Vice President on managing bid calendar
• Participate in Bid Progress Review meetings
• Delegate & Track tasks delegated to Project Administrator during Preconstruction
• Assist in analyzing Risk Exposure for all projects
• Perform detailed qualitative & quantitative takeoffs from construction documents
• Perform logistic studies for general condition pricing
• Create bid solicitations and send out RFP’s to subs and vendors
• Work with Project Managers and Project Admin to ensure sufficient bid coverage
• Participate in updating contractor bidders list and soliciting new bidders
• Log document all contract documents, addendums and supplemental information
• Coordinate with Accounting with ordering insurance, bonds, and qualifications
• Assist in coordinating with Operations/Accounting on contract templates if applicable
• Maintain proficiency in all software relevant to estimating
• Work with Vice President to manage bid schedule
• Perform detailed qualitative & quantitative takeoffs from construction documents
• Develop & Maintain RFI’s during Preconstruction with client
• Assemble Bid Books & Save Subcontractor bids & proposals in Server
• Maintain Bidding Spreadsheets & ensure qualification of all proposals prior to bid package submission
• Attend Mandatory Site Visits, Pre-Bid Meetings as required

Design:

• Assist in managing Design-Build Projects during Preconstruction
• Assist in managing Consultants on dates/deliverables, constructability, cost-control, and “permit-ability” throughout the design process to bidding
• Assist in tracking Design Progress on bi-weekly design progress reports if required
• Assist Sr. Estimator & Accounting on preparing invoices & tracking payment
• Assist in preparing & managing Preconstruction Agreements

Project Transition/Handoff:

• Participate in Project Handoff Process from Preconstruction to Operations
• Collaborate & Communicate with Operations during design development, bidding and hand off to assist in the manpower metrics & predict future needs
• Review Subcontractor Scopes of Work with PM & Vice President prior to subcontract execution
• Collaborate & Communicate with Owner, Operations, Subcontractors during Construction process to ensure a successful and profitable project (As needed)
• Assist PM’s with Bid & Budget (As needed)
