Position Title: Construction Manager Representing the Agency
Location: York County, VA at Colonial Historical Park
Period Of Performance: Exact Dates - TBD
Salary Range:  $90,000 to $120,000 DOE

Project Solutions Inc. is seeking an experienced Construction Management Representative for an exciting opportunity in York County, VA at the Colonial Historical Park.  We are always looking for hard working professionals to join our diverse workforce and gain experience on a large variety of projects.

Project/Position Overview:

This project is located near the Colonial Historic Park in York County, VA and addresses essential work necessary to bring this 1930s dam to modern standards.  The scope of work includes: Removal and replacement of exposed aggregate concrete parkway to match historic character, clearing and grubbing of site, furnishing and placement of soils, geosynthetic materials and other fabricated materials including articulating concrete block matting, toe drains, underdrains, guardrails, soil/stone materials, rehabilitation of brick masonry and concrete structures, removal of graffiti, replacement of missing bricks, water and traffic control, abandonment of low-level outlet structures, repair of concrete curbs, and stabilization of areas disturbed by construction.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction. 
  • Arrange, attend and facilitate a variety of meetings, including weekly meetings at the project site. 
  • Thoroughly read all contract plans, specifications, and requirements prior to work being performed.
  • Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor. 
  • Review contractor's baseline and progress schedules.
  • Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review and issuance 
  • Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress, workmanship, quality and conformance with contract documents, applicable building codes and safety standards.
  • Deliver reports, reviews, evaluations, design work, etc. to CO.
  • Review and process Construction Contractor's RFIs and assist in resolution, draft response, tracking, and follow up.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance Plan.

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Construction Management Degree or Engineering Degree .
  • 5+ years Construction Management Experience.
  • Minimum of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training required.
  • Knowledge of project building codes, management concepts, understanding of authorities, and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor, materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
  • Knowledgeable in site civil, concrete paving, historic brick restoration and construction practices including applicable industry standards, regulations or codes, cost breakdown estimating and negotiating, and technical writing.
  • Experience with earthen dam restoration will be more favorably rated.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, schedules, and other specifications.
  • Written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of software including Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Qualified applicant must be able to pass a background check.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
