Position Title: Construction Manager

Waldron is seeking a Construction Manager with minimum 10-15 years of experience in the construction industry. Primary job duties are to execute a medium-to-large sized construction project or multiple small projects. The successful candidate will primarily be assigned to Waldron’s project sites. Experience working as a construction project manager or construction manager is required. Industrial, power, and process construction experience is a plus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide overall administrative and technical direction for medium-to-large size construction projects from inception to completion. May direct several small projects.
  • Lead and oversee total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, schedule, and to high quality standards. Includes interfacing with client representatives, A/E representatives, union officials, subcontractors, building officials, etc.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules for assigned projects—manage projects in support of the master schedule.
  • Develop project budgets, cash flow plans, forecasts, and perform project cost tracking.
  • Develop and execute project work plans and communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute project specific QA/QC plans.
  • Develop project specific safety plans. Ensure that the project safety program is maintained for a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all company personnel on assigned project(s).
  • Deliver complete written bid packages for multiple trades for assigned projects of small to medium size either directly or through subordinates.
  • Prepare complete estimates in support of bid packages for assigned project(s) of varying size and complexity either directly or through subordinate personnel.
  • Responsible for bid phase of all assigned projects resulting in complete, accurate subcontractor and vendor scope and costs.
  • Develop subcontractor contracts and vendor purchase orders.
  • Responsible for change management process with owners, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in staffing projects, perform interviews, and work with HR for onboarding and necessary training. Authorize/approve all project personnel transactions (hiring, transfers, wages, etc.).
  • Ensure all company, client and project policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to. Interpret policies as required.
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members. Ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain high professional and construction ethics.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and make recommendations to Project Manager.
  • Thorough understanding of all federal, state, and local regulations as applicable to specific projects.
  • Understand company policies and procedures.
  • Provide supervision and technical support to all subordinates
  • Maintain up to date current training requirements.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train and mentor subordinate employees. Ability to motivate and inspire team members.
  • Perform performance appraisals of direct reports and make recommendations to senior management on personnel actions.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve processes and procedures.
  • Maintain all necessary licensing requirements.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction and with minimal supervision.
  • BS in Engineering discipline or Construction Management or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
  • 10 - 15 years supervisory or equivalent experience in construction.
  • Contractor’s license or ability to obtain one, when required by a jurisdiction.
  • Knowledge of multiple trade construction means and methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction project contract delivery methods.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Prompt and accurate judgement.
  • Solution oriented, strong conflict resolution skills, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods).
  • Excellent communication, organization, supervisory, interpersonal, and planning skills.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. P6 scheduling software experience a plus.
  • Strong written communication skills and proficiency with job applicable software.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The position will provide regular opportunities for overnight travel, and it may offer extended stay durations and/or long-term options.
  • Projects are typically industrial in nature and may require work inside power plants, food processing areas, manufacturing areas, outdoors, etc.
  • Some climbing, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Some lifting up to 50 lbs.
