WELBRO Building Corporation, the "2024 Best Place to Work" in Central Florida (OBJ medium size category), has a career opportunity for a Project Executive in Orlando with hospitality or education project experience. The ideal candidate will be 15+ years out of college and qualified to provide oversight and direction to multiple project teams or one project team on a large and complex project from preplanning to completion. The individual will be responsible for pursuing new business opportunities and maintaining relationships with existing clients and stakeholders. The right individual will have the opportunity to advance and become a vice president of a major operational segment of our business.

Qualifications

  • Four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
  • 10+ years of experience as Project Manager with a commercial general contractor
  • 15+ years of working for a General Contractor(s) in a Project Manager career track; previous experience would include Office Engineer/Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Manager in the commercial building construction industry.
  • Hospitality or K-12 education project experience in the Central Florida region
  • Must be able to demonstrate advanced supervisor and leadership skills and the passion to support the performance and development of others (direct reports).
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.
  • Ability to gather information, interpret complex data, and independently resolve technical problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others through verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess exceptional business acumen and have the ability to gain perspective on dynamic issues and use tact and diplomacy to resolve.
  • Must have extensive experience in financial control, cost forecasting, scheduling, buyout, risk management, owner relations, and change order management.

General Description

  • Provides overall management, administrative, and technical direction for a medium or large-size project or multiple projects. Enforces company and project policies, acts as the main client interface, and ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Fosters relationship and new business opportunities with a particular client.
  • Manages activities related to project schedule, contract administration, budget control, cost adherence, and client - A/E - subcontractor communications.
  • Ensures overall project success by effectively coordinating with Site Managers (Superintendents), Project Engineers, and Operations Manager and managing the performance of project team.

Key Duties

  • Leadership: Initiates and maintains liaison with client, architect, and engineer contacts to effectively facilitate construction activities. Represent company in project meetings and lead all critical negotiations and strategy meetings.
  • Buyout: Oversees the purchase processes, buy-out processes, and the development of documents, contracts, and subcontracts.
  • Project Oversight: Monitors and controls construction activities through the project management program and by providing guidance to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure project is built by plan, in compliance, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Supervisory Leadership: Provides leadership to all project team members including regular oversight of performance and conduct, ongoing feedback, coaching, and maintaining an environment of collaboration and accountability.
  • Financial Control: Provides guidance to Project Managers and/or manages financial aspects of the contracts and construction to protect the company’s interests, manage and mitigate risks, and simultaneously maintain collaborative relationships with client, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Preplanning: Leads team to establish project pre-plans and objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy and contract requirements.
  • Staffing: Helps to plan, hire, and fill project team positions by coordinating with HR and Senior Leadership and actively participating in interviews and staff meetings.
  • Risk Management: Thoroughly investigate potentially high-risk situations on the project, approve and/or provide potential solutions, and work with project team in resolving the situation in the best interest of the client and WELBRO.
  • Performance Management: Oversees and executes training and development initiatives for project staff. Provides oversight and input into the performance review process for each project team member. Regularly provides performance feedback, conducts annual performance reviews and check-ins; create and support individual development plans, and provide opportunities for career growth.
  • Community & Business Development: Collaborate with Marketing Department in developing and maintaining relationships, preparing proposals and presentations for new work, and participating in industry and community initiatives.
