Project Manager - Historic Building Restoration

John Canning & Co., a leading specialty contractor in historic building restoration, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to oversee all aspects of assigned projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring we deliver exceptional results for our clients while adhering to strict timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead assigned projects from conception to completion, exceeding contractual obligations.
  • Manage construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Oversee company trade labor and cultivate strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Resolve construction challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan, organize, and lead the project team, ensuring clear communication and task allocation.
  • Secure materials and equipment to maintain a consistent workflow.
  • Manage subcontractor selection and agreements, ensuring alignment with project scope and budget.
  • Monitor and control construction progress, keeping the project on schedule and within budget.
  • Collaborate with the team to update project schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Track and manage project labor loads.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including logs, reports, and as-built documents.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and safe practices.
  • Facilitate weekly job progress meetings with project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) .
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and exceeding expectations.
  • Strong forecasting skills for labor needs, materials, equipment, and other project requirements.
  • Experience managing commercial construction projects ranging from $200,000 to $10 million.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple demands.
  • Team player with experience working collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction documents including drawings, specifications, submittal packages, change orders, and scheduling tools (Gantt charts, bar charts).
  • Proficiency in construction software and technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety regulations and practices.
