Construction Solicitor
Job Description
Role Overview & Daily Responsibilities:
Contentious Construction Work:
- Manage a varied caseload of contentious construction matters, including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, and mediation.
- Advise clients on construction disputes involving defects, delays, payment issues, and contract breaches.
- Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, and expert reports.
- Represent clients in court, arbitration, and adjudication hearings.
- Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
Non-Contentious Construction Work:
- Assist in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, subcontracts, and collateral warranties.
- Provide advice on procurement routes, project risk management, and contract administration.
- Advise on standard form contracts, such as JCT, NEC, and FIDIC, and bespoke agreements.
Client Engagement and Development:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing clear, commercially focused advice.
- Work collaboratively with other teams within the firm to deliver a full-service offering to clients.
- Participate in business development activities, including networking events, seminars, and client presentations.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and firm policies.
- Manage client expectations effectively, providing realistic assessments of outcomes and risks.
