Contract Electrical Engineer - Refinery

This would be for someone to work with operations and provide electrical engineering support during a plant turnaround, including planning, support, troubling shooting & problem resolution by designing and implementing solutions. The position is based in a refinery in Denver, CO and the assignment is projected to last 2-years.
Key Responsibilities:

Apply project management skills in all phases of project engineering for assigned electrical infrastructure work. Define scope, develop cost estimates and schedules, secure funding approval from management, prepare construction packages, provide guidance to construction contractors to safely implement project scope.

Providing electrical and power technical support on multi-discipline projects.

Assist with design of heat tracing for piping projects being led by other project leaders.

Ensure assigned projects comply with all applicable company and electrical industry standards and recommendations throughout all phases of the project, e.g. NETA, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, API, NEMA, etc.

Interface with engineering contractors, refining personnel, E&I vendors, construction contractors, and engineers through all project phases.

Participate in project meetings.

Provide input to scope and design of assigned projects; Identify front-end engineering & design (FEED) and Implementation deliverables necessary for the electrical scope of the project.

Provide timely feedback on deliverables / estimates to achieve schedule milestones on assigned projects.

Review and approve equipment spec sheets prior to procurement and support the purchasing of equipment and materials.

Participate in technical reviews with project engineers, engineering firms and equipment suppliers.

Review construction work packages to ensure quality deliverables are available for the Construction group.

Support construction and commissioning of assigned projects including system turnover activities.

Support project closeout activities including timely document returns.

Review and approve proposed changes to electrical process safety information (PSI) documents, including site one-line and electrical area classification drawings.
Experience
-
10+ years of electrical engineering experience in the oil & gas industry
-
3+ years of refinery plant planning and support experience, including plant turnarounds
-
Experience working across multiple functions.

Working knowledge of electrical and power technical support and electrical work packages

Experience with project engineering for assigned electrical infrastructure work.

ETAP (or SKM) power study experience

Experience with temporary power

Ability to work with operations and vendors to compete projects without completed work scopes
