Overview:
The Contract Engineer is responsible for managing and administering contracts related to projects, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions, and supporting project teams with contractual issues.
This role involves preparing contract documents, negotiating terms, managing contract changes, and mitigating contractual risks to protect the company’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and negotiate contract terms, ensuring alignment with project objectives, legal requirements, and company policies.

Support the project teams in contract administration, including tracking deliverables, managing contract changes, and ensuring all parties adhere to contractual obligations.

Identify potential contractual risks and issues, and work with legal and project teams to develop mitigation strategies.

Handle contract amendments, variations, claims, and disputes, providing advice and support to project teams to ensure timely resolution.

Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate contract execution and maintain professional working relationships.

Monitor contract performance, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions, and initiate corrective actions when necessary.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all contract-related activities, including correspondence, modifications, and approvals.

Support procurement and project management teams with contract development, ensuring that all contract documents are comprehensive and legally sound.

Prepare reports on contract status, issues, and recommendations for improvements to enhance contract management processes.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

Certification in Contract Management (e.g., NCMA, IACCM) .

Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Years of Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in contract management or contract engineering, preferably in the oil and gas, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
Technical Knowledge:

Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Strong knowledge of contract law, terms and conditions, and the ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts effectively to mitigate risks and protect the company’s interests.

Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, assessing, and managing contractual risks, with experience in handling claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
