Inflexion Point is currently looking for a Control System Engineer I who will be an integral part of our startup, commissioning and support team. This role requires up to 80% travel throughout the United States. As a Control System Engineer I in this role, you will be responsible for but not limited to the startup, commissioning, troubleshooting and long-term support of process control and automation systems for our renewable natural gas, life sciences, food and beverage and consumer products customers. Working alongside your project team, you will test, debug and startup the DCS, PLC, SCADA/HMI and MES systems that the development team designs and builds. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

· Commission new automation systems: responsibility for testing and debugging new automation systems, ensuring that they function as intended before they are handed over to the client. Requires working closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, electricians, other members of the automation team and project related vendors.

· Provide technical support as the first point of contact for clients who experience technical issues with their automation systems, troubleshooting problems and providing solutions, either remotely or by visiting the client's site

· Responsible for maintenance and upgrades, ensuring that clients' automation systems continue to function properly over time which may involve performing routine maintenance tasks, upgrading software or hardware components, and providing training to clients' employees

· Communicate effectively and routinely with clients, keeping them updated on project progress and ensuring that their needs are being met

Requirements:

Education, Certifications, Skills and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics)

· 2 to 5 years of experience as Controls/Automation engineer or industrial control system programmer

· First-hand experience with startup/commissioning/deployment of systems into production environments is required

· Ability to travel extensively (80%) to visit clients' sites to perform installations or provide support services

· Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

· Exceptional communication skills for interface with customers, vendors, and other project team members

· Ability to define, schedule and juggle tasks across multiple projects


PLC Programming Requirements

· Allen Bradley Logix Family of PLCs

· Modicon PLCs

· Experience with Siemens, GE, Opto 22 a plus

SCADA Design and Configuration Requirements

· Inductive Automation Ignition

· Rockwell Factory Talk View SE


Other Design and Programming

· SQL database queries (MS SQL or MySQL)

· Python

· Proficiency in the use of electrical diagnostic equipment such as process meters, signal generators is .


Working Environment

Duties will require travel to customer sites/locations. Must be willing and able to travel approximately 80% in a variety of manufacturing facilities. Remote support duties are performed in an office environment. Must be able to routinely use standard office equipment which includes, but is not limited to, computers. Minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues.


Physical Demands

Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged hours consistent with the average workday; to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to computer, printer, etc. Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; must be able to move, transport, position, place, install, remove and/or replace various types of equipment; must be able to lift 50-70 lbs. unassisted.
