Control Systems Engineer
Job DescriptionJob Description
Responsible for programming, system configuration, system documentation, factory acceptance testing, and field start-up and commissioning activities, specifically for DeltaV systems, among others.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Participates in the development of logic diagrams, cause & effect matrices, and functional narratives.
Ø Participates in the development and/or review of control panel design packages, field wiring diagrams, conduit & cable schedules, and associated E&I package deliverables.
Ø Attends field verification and user requirements gathering walkdowns.
Ø Develops DCS/PLC/HMI programming.
Ø Executes factory acceptance testing.
Ø Executes field start-up and commissioning, including support of troubleshooting activities.
Ø Contributes to and participates in client training.
Ø Provides best possible response after hours support for internal/external clients as required.
Ø Works with applicable Senior Engineering Lead(s) and Project Manager(s) to ensure quality of deliverable, budget adherence, etc. Keeps Project Manager(s) informed of progress, issues, need for change order, etc.
Ø Travel +/- 25% with willingness to travel via air.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
v B.S. Engineering plus 5 years’ applicable work experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience
v Strong platform experience and proficiency programming DeltaV Distributed Control Systems
v Strong proficiency with Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and OPC communications protocols
v Solid grasp of control panels, panel wiring drawings, and field wiring diagrams
v Strong understanding of P&IDs, to include:
· Ability to support the development of new P&IDs
· Ability to review and assess existing P&IDs
· Ability to develop Instrument & I/O Lists from P&IDs
v Familiarity with ISA tagging conventions
v Platform experience and proficiency programming:
· PLCs (Allen-Bradley )
· HMIs (Inductive Automation Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell FactoryTalk View, GE iFIX )
· Other (Omni Flow Computer, ROC, Load Metering Devices)
v Development of both operational and technical manuals, to include training guides, HMI manuals, and operating procedures
v Knowledgeable of Electrical Protection Relays
v Knowledgeable of Historian systems
v Knowledgeable of external notification systems (text, email, mobile app, etc.)
v Familiarity with DeviceNet and/or Profibus communications protocols
