We are seeking an experienced Controls Commissioning Technician to ensure HVAC systems operate per engineering specifications by programming and verifying controls. This role requires a solid understanding of commercial HVAC systems, commissioning processes, digital control concepts, and the ability to test and troubleshoot a variety of system components. The technician will collaborate with other trades and communicate effectively with clients, working independently to make informed decisions and adjustments as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Verify HVAC systems' operation through controls programming to meet engineering specifications.
  • Balance air and water systems as part of commissioning.
  • Test and troubleshoot sensors, controllers, ladder logic, level sensors, current sensors, transducers, VFDs, actuators, low voltage circuits, relays, and various electronics.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, control sequences, and electrical schematics.
  • Coordinate work with other trades and assist the commercial construction startup team as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding system status and project progress.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school or military experience is helpful
  • English skills (written and verbal)
  • At least 5 years of commercial experience with a strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems: Hydronics, VAVs, VVT, Chillers, Boilers, VRV, RTUs, and Exhaust systems.
  • Proficiency in digital control concepts, including digital and analog inputs/outputs, sequence of operations, device programming, system addressing, serial communications, and computer networking.
  • Problem-solving skills, including confidence to make changes independently and provide feedback to supervisors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Strong computer skills and understanding of NEC codes.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety policies.
