Job Summary
Our Client is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer for a position in Orlando, FL, responsible for electrical and controls engineering on large-scale projects. This role involves control system design, electrical panel design, risk assessment, control system programming, and installation/commissioning.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design electrical/control systems from concept to completion.
  • Create detailed designs using drafting software (AutoCAD ).
  • Integrate systems with other project disciplines and optimize panel locations.
  • Manage vendor scope to ensure safety and contract compliance.
  • Ensure designs meet local, government, and client codes/standards.
  • Generate and implement technical risk assessments.
  • Design safety-critical parts and redundant mitigations for control systems.
  • Develop documents for system configuration, including operation descriptions, design descriptions, and test plans.
  • Perform system design calculations/analysis, including short circuit protection, power consumption, and safety system implementation.
  • Support system installation/commissioning, including working off-shifts if needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in control system design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of contract documents, specifications, and field data collection.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environments.
  • Experience with major industrial hardware/software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Familiarity with ethernet-based distributed remote I/O systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to see, hear, speak clearly, and perform tasks requiring dexterity.
  • Ability to drive, lift, climb, and maneuver equipment.
  • Work in standard office, on-site, and diverse industrial/construction environments.
  • Expected to be on client location 5 days a week.
