Controls Engineer
We are seeking a Controls Engineer with expertise in electrical hardware design, PLC programming, and automation systems. This role involves the design, development, and implementation of control systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct system risk assessments and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.
- Select and size electrical hardware components, including sensors, actuators, and controllers.
- Develop electrical schematics using EPLAN P8 or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Create and maintain the bill of materials (BOM) for automation projects.
- Perform panel layout design and heat calculation analysis to ensure system efficiency.
- Design and size pneumatic systems, including plumbing and component selection.
- Define system hardware architecture and optimize automation network layouts.
- Program programmable logic controllers (PLC), including Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Allen-Bradley, and Mitsubishi systems.
- Develop human-machine interfaces (HMI) for seamless user interaction.
- Travel onsite for customer startup and commissioning, ensuring proper system integration.
- Integrate auxiliary equipment such as laser markers, parts washers, and comparators.
- Interface with machine tools for machine tending applications.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware design within an automation or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in EPLAN P8 or AutoCAD Electrical for system schematics and panel layouts.
- Strong PLC programming experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Allen-Bradley, and Mitsubishi platforms.
- Knowledge of automation network design, control panel layout, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug control systems during commissioning and production.
- Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA, IEC, UL, CE, etc.) for industrial automation.
- Willingness to travel for onsite commissioning and system integration.
