Controls Engineering Team Lead
The OpportunityBased at our new Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, Ireland the site’s Operation System Engineering function currently has an opportunity for a Controls Engineering Team Lead to join their expanding team.The team supports the on-going development, validation, deployment, and support of data systems which integrate into our manufacturing operations, enabling ADC to provide innovative state-of-the-art solutions that facilitate the company’s Factory 4.0 initiatives.As the Controls Engineering Team Lead, you will be primarily responsible for managing a team of engineers to support sourcing, qualification, production support, and maintenance of Automated Manufacturing Equipment and their underlying control systems. The Controls Engineering Team Lead will be a subject matter expert for all machine controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, Line Controllers, Scada Systems, Interface Systems, and machine control devices at the site.ResponsibilitiesManages a team of controls, systems and vision engineersProvides technical leadership on all controls engineering topicsSupports in-production Automated Manufacturing EquipmentTroubleshoots and solves problems with processes and hardwarePlans preventive maintenance of controls systemsCoordinates with others in order to investigate problems and implement solutionsProvides technical assistance as needed by internal customersManages relations with vendorsDefines performance metricsSupports qualification and validation activitiesLeads projects to specify and implement new processes and process improvementsEducation and ExperienceLevel 7 NFQ qualification in Automation, Mechatronics, Computer science, Electrical engineering, Electronic engineering or equivalent experience6+ years of in a similar positionExperience managing teams and projectsExperience with Allen Bradley Controllogix PLCs and Siemens TIA portalExperience with developing users and system requirements specificationsExperience in controls system development and deploymentExperience in software testing, verification, and validationExperience with supporting manufacturing systemsExcellent problem solving skillsExperience with controlling and implementing software changesDemonstrated ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines and work within a highly regulated environmentPreferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical, or Software), or related disciplineExperience working in the medical device industryExperience with line controllers, SCADA, MES systems.What we OfferAttractive compensation package that includes competitive pay, as well as benefits such asFamily health insurance,Excellent pension schemeLife assuranceCareer DevelopmentFantastic new facilityGrowing business plus access to many more benefits.Abbott is an equal opportunities employer.Abbott is an equal opportunities employer.
