The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) serves a key role as a cornerstone of facility operations, supporting Amazon within its owned and operated data centers. All data center equipment supporting customer services must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.Key job responsibilitiesThe EOT is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves conducting both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The EOT serves as an operator as well as a first-line resource reporting to a site’s Data Center Facility Manager (FM), receiving daily instruction from the Chief Engineer (CE) and interacting with third party vendors. The EOT maintains training compliance as related to their role of operating, troubleshooting and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment.This equipment includes, but is not limited to:- Stand-by emergency generators- Low and medium voltage electrical systems- Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)- Water treatment systems- Building automation systems- Fire detection and air quality monitoring systems- Server racks A day in the lifeWorking semi-autonomously in operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data centerExecution of project scopes of basic complexityProviding timely escalation for all facilities-related issues within the data centerFirst-line troubleshooting and reporting of facility and high-criticality events within a pre-determined service level agreement (SLA)Providing assistance to junior and peer EOTsOversight of third-party vendors to ensure that all work performed is in accordance with established safety protocols, best practices, and local legislationUtilization of administrative tools for change management, ticketing, and asset management.Flexibility for changes to work schedule depending on specific site needs. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there’s nothing we can’t achieve in the cloud.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Västerås, SWEBASIC QUALIFICATIONS- 2+ years electrical, mechanical and/or controls relevant experience (degree or trade qualification preferred)- Demonstrate key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory- Strong verbal and written communication skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Professional Certification in Electrical, Mechanical or Controls engineering.- Working knowledge of generic mechanical-room infrastructure such as chillers, Air Handling Units, and fan controls.- Working knowledge of backup generator systems.
