About the Role
Our client is seeking a Data Privacy Scientist to develop and implement cutting-edge privacy-preserving techniques for handling sensitive healthcare data. This role involves ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations, designing de-identification frameworks, and enhancing privacy-preserving AI methodologies. The ideal candidate will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and legal teams to balance data utility with rigorous privacy safeguards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine de-identification and anonymization techniques for structured and unstructured healthcare data.
- Design and implement privacy-preserving machine learning methodologies, including federated learning and differential privacy approaches.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, and other relevant data privacy regulations in all data processing workflows.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to protect sensitive patient information.
- Collaborate with technical and legal teams to define data privacy policies and best practices.
- Research and apply the latest advancements in privacy-enhancing technologies to real-world healthcare data challenges.
- Support the development of secure data-sharing frameworks that enable AI research while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Develop clear documentation and communicate complex privacy concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field. A bachelor’s degree with relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with data privacy, security, or anonymization in healthcare or AI environments.
- Strong understanding of privacy-preserving AI techniques, including differential privacy, homomorphic encryption, and federated learning.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience using relevant privacy-focused libraries and frameworks.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, and other global data protection regulations.
- Experience designing and implementing secure data-sharing protocols.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in startup environments is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with cryptographic methods for secure computation.
- Experience with privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs).
- Knowledge of synthetic data techniques.
- Experience working with de-identification frameworks for clinical data.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS for secure data processing.
