Deputy Director, Programs and Operations (NAMIC)

NAMIC is Singapore's Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology accelerator, ecosystem and venture builder. AM is a multi-disciplinary digital manufacturing technology, and forms one of the foundations for modern manufacturing in the 21st century, along with robotics and artificial intelligence. Under the Manufacturing and Economy 2030 Vision, NAMIC"s mission is to accelerate the adoption of hybrid and digital additive manufacturing technologies, helping industries transform towards innovation and high value-added manufacturing using sustainably sourced, nature-based designs and cradle-to-cradle on-demand manufacturing. The cluster orchestrates public-private partnerships, focuses on translational R&D in materials, software, hardware, processes, digital workflows and standards. NAMIC adopts an industry sectorial engagement approach, leveraging on public R&D investments, prioritizing the pull-through of promising AM research outcomes, and supporting industry test-bedding towards commercial scale-up. NAMIC also assists companies seeking capital injection either through project joint-funding or its investor network.

Job Description: Deputy Director, Programs and Operations

·Operational Leadership: Lead the oversight of all administrative and operational aspects of the organization, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in backend operations.

·Compliance and Process Management: Ensure organizational processes align with internal compliance standards, coordinating closely with finance, procurement, and grant administration divisions to uphold regulations and procedures.

·Project Management Oversight: Spearhead the project management function, overseeing the execution of projects from initiation to closure. This entails managing project scope, budget, schedules, and resource allocation, while ensuring stakeholder communication and requirements are met.

·Grant and Audit Oversight: Take charge of grant management operations, including the application, administration, and audit processes to ensure adherence to grant requirements and financial integrity.

·Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate project performance against compliance and grant conditions, implementing corrective measures as necessary to meet objectives and commitments.

·Knowledge Sharing: Document project learnings and progress, sharing insights and developments with the team to foster a learning environment and continuous improvement.

·Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with a variety of stakeholders, including industry partners, trade associations, and public agencies, to support organizational objectives and enhance industry relations.

·Event and Visitor Coordination: Organize and coordinate significant events and visits, acting as a liaison for industry partners, academic institutions, and other external entities to promote organizational goals.

·Marketing Support: Collaborate with the marketing team to assist in the planning and execution of marketing strategies and events, including conferences, workshops, and webinars, to enhance outreach and engagement.

Requirements:

·Professional Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in a related field, demonstrating a robust understanding of program and operational management within an academic, R&D, or industrial setting.

·Educational Background: A degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline. Advanced degrees or certifications in project management or operations would be advantageous.

·Management Skills: Proven management experience, with a capacity to lead diverse teams and projects. Experience in additive manufacturing processes and technologies is highly desirable.

·Project Management Expertise: Prior experience in project management within an R&D, technology, or operations environment. Familiarity with public sector engagement is preferred.

·Team Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively as part of a team and with various stakeholders.

·Organizational Competence: Highly organized and meticulous, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring high levels of precision and due diligence.

·Integrity and Ethics: Upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior, ensuring all operations and processes are conducted responsibly and transparently.

·Adaptability and Innovation: Flexible and adaptable to changing organizational needs, with a strong inclination towards innovation and continuous improvement in operational practices.

·Motivated, self-starter with ability to perform multiple duties independently.

·A problem-solver with a positive attitude. Can-do attitude and decision-making ability.
