Design Architect - Senior Living

We are seeking an experienced senior living planner and architectural designer with the ability to engage thoughtfully with clients and stakeholders, collaborate with an internal team of designers and craft meaningful places for aging.
Senior living environments are constantly evolving to meet changing consumer expectations, operational challenges and changing regulations. As a market, we lead with curiosity and humility, seeking to understand a client's needs after designing solutions to create purpose-driven results for , staff and visitors of each community.
Programming, Planning + Design. We are looking for a professional with excellent technical and interpersonal skills who can act as a client liaison for projects, leading them through our purpose-driven design approach to ensure seamless facilitation and coordination of planning, programming, concept and schematic design. Depth of expertise in programming and planning for the whole spectrum of senior living environments is required, including but not limited to active adult, independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Experience in master planning, repositioning and renovation work in addition to new construction is .
Leadership + Mentorship. You will have opportunities to provide leadership and mentoring to individuals within and outside of project teams while working in a highly collaborative environment. Collaboration + Convergence. We are seeking an individual who will have a forward-looking view on the market, seeking growth opportunities and market influences that may impact clients and/or the design strategies for our clients. Senior living sits in our Living Environments Studio, which includes mixed-use, multifamily, student housing and hospitality design; beyond our studio, our firm has 7 core markets it serves. We constantly seek collaboration and convergence across markets to inform and evolve our design solutions.
Knowledge, Abilities + Expectations
- Exhibit a positive attitude with a desire to actively contribute to the firm's culture
- Effectively communicate with clients, consultants and internal teams, both in written and oral format
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with a high standard in written and graphic communication
- Prepare presentation and design drawings utilizing current techniques and technology
- Exhibits a working knowledge of senior living operations, finance and regulations that influence planning and design solutions
- Work at different scales - from master planning to fine detailing
- Hold exceptional organization skills and work with modest supervision and guidance
- Solve problems proactively and prioritize tasks and assignments
The Fine Print
- Licensed architect with a minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in senior living planning, architectural design and unit design
- No other staff report directly to this position, this position reports to the Living Environments Studio Director
- Strong understanding of sustainable design and building processes and concepts is desirable
- Knowledge and experience with Revit, SketchUp and related software is
- Knowledge of other graphic software such as Adobe/Affinity suite and rendering software is
- Work is performed five days a week with a minimum four days per week physically present in the office
