Job Title: Design Engineer - Custom Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling

Location: Columbia City IN

Shift: 1st

Pay: 70K to 78K with full benefits

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our manufacturing team. As a specialist in custom Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling, you will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, designing, and creating precision solutions that optimize our manufacturing processes. Your expertise in Autodesk Inventor and CAD, combined with your ability to deliver innovative designs and collaborate with both internal teams and external customers, will be essential to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and Development:

   • Utilize Autodesk Inventor and other CAD software to create custom Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling that address specific manufacturing challenges.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, constraints, and objectives.
   • Develop innovative design concepts that enhance manufacturing efficiency, accuracy, and quality.

2. Detailing and Documentation:

   • Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling designs.
   • Ensure accuracy and precision in all design documentation, including dimensions, tolerances, and materials.

3. Customer Collaboration:

   • Work closely with customers to understand their unique needs and translate those requirements into practical, effective designs.
   • Participate in design review meetings with customers to present concepts, gather feedback, and make necessary revisions.

4. Project Management:

   • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
   • Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders, providing updates on project status, milestones, and potential challenges.

5. Technical Expertise:

   • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling design.
   • Propose and implement improvements in design methodologies and processes based on your technical knowledge.

6. Quality and Compliance:

   • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements.
   • Conduct thorough design reviews to identify and address potential issues before implementation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing Gages, Fixtures, and Tooling in the manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and other CAD software.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external customers.
• Problem-solving mindset with a creative approach to design challenges.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in design documentation.
• Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
