Position Overview:
C4 Fabrication is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design, 3D modeling, and an understanding of materials and manufacturing processes. As a Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing custom parts and systems for off-road vehicles, working closely with our fabrication team to bring innovative concepts to life.
Key Responsibilities:

Product Design & Development: Develop 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes for off-road parts and systems, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Collaborative Design: Work closely with fabricators, engineers, and project managers to conceptualize and refine designs, ensuring manufacturability and performance.

CAD Modeling & Prototyping: Create and modify detailed CAD models using software like SolidWorks. Generate assemblies, part drawings, and technical specifications.

Materials & Manufacturing: Select appropriate materials and finishes based on performance requirements, cost, and durability. Work with vendors to ensure proper sourcing and production methods.

Testing & Validation: Participate in design testing, evaluate prototypes, and ensure that final products meet performance, safety, and quality standards.

Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in current designs and processes. Implement design optimizations and cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of design iterations, drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and other technical documentation. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field. (Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.)

Experience: 2+ years of experience in product design or mechanical engineering, preferably within the automotive or off-road industry. Experience with custom fabrication or off-road vehicle design is a plus.

Technical Skills: Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, etc.). Experience with rendering software is a plus.

Knowledge: Solid understanding of materials, welding techniques, and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, etc.) as they relate to off-road and automotive applications.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot design issues, propose solutions, and think creatively to meet project requirements.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to clearly convey design concepts and technical specifications to both the engineering team and non-technical stakeholders.

Passion for Off-Roading: A genuine interest in off-road vehicles, motorsports, and performance enhancements is a huge plus!
