Design Engineer

WeatherTech Direct, is seeking a well-qualified Design Engineer with a passion for technology and precision to join our Product Development and Engineering team to make new products a reality. Salary range is 90,000k - 120,000k/year.

As a Design Engineer you will

  • Develop and deliver engineering output files to print prototyped 3D parts while considering optimal design aesthetics and cost efficiency
  • Use 3D CAD modeling skills such as advanced surfacing, part modeling and assembly to design new products across many new vehicle applications
  • Work directly with the OEM team to design and engineer varying accessory parts that meet and exceed customer expectations
  • Participate in project meetings and internal and external conference calls as required
  • Create and submit designs to the prototyping lab for rapid prototype print and build
  • Track all work related to design, from concept to production for projects assigned
  • Collaborate with the product development team, supporting all aspects of product development including reliability testing, product qualification and product design verification
  • Evaluate and update manufacturing drawings for clarity and dimensional accuracy
  • Keep work area in a clean and orderly condition, clean and maintain equipment
  • Communicate clearly and work as part of a team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Engineering or Technical Degree
  • 2+ years of prior product development experience
  • 2+ years of 3D CAD modeling software experience
  • High level of proficiency modeling in 3D environment, Siemens NX
  • Proven ability to problem solve
  • Meticulous attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
  • Previous plastics and molding experience
  • Knowledge and interest in the automotive industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with external contacts as well as internal departments within the company
  • Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
