Job Summary/Objective:

Under the general direction of Project Managers and Design Engineers, the Design Engineer Level 1 serves as a member of a cross-functional project team. As a member of a cross-functional project team, the role has responsibility to execute design tasks and initiatives under appropriate supervision.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility for this role is to support the proper development and completion of electrical designs and schematics that conform to safety and quality standards. This position will be required to support multiple projects of varying complexity.

Requirements:

  1. Entry Level
  2. Associate’s degree or two-year technical degree/certificate in an electrical-related program, or have at least 2 years of equivalent experience.
  3. Travel required.

Essential Functions:

  1. Research and understand commercially available components for use in a total system.
  2. Control panel design:
    1. Using UL 508A, NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, and NEC design standards.
    2. Assist design team to determine Heat Loads, SCCRs, Voltage Separation, Panel Sizing & Ratings.
    3. Assist design team on circuit design to include breaker/transformer/motor load/wire/terminal sizing.
  3. Assist with the development of detailed system documentation for the construction and installation of control panels.
  4. Assist in Developing complete electrical drawing packages.
  5. Edit existing drawing sets with feedback from Project Managers, Controls Engineers, and Design Engineers.
  6. Ensure compliance to company standards and client requirements.
  7. Executes functional tests after control panels are completed to ensure quality.
  8. Assist with control panel verifications (FAT/SAT documentation).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical
  2. Firm commitment to efficiently delivering solutions.
  3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  4. Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently with the appropriate support.
  5. Gain proficiency with PCs, operating systems, and MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, MS Project).
  6. Demonstrate client focused attitude.
  7. Full understanding of company standards and fully complies with them.
  8. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Physical Demands:

Must possess ability to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, and to visit various client and meeting sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard and to operate standard office equipment. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although prolonged standing and walking and the ability to climb ramps, stairs, and ladders may be required when traveling or on client site. May occasionally require the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 40 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.
