Design Lead - Piping
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIES: The obligation to carry out assigned tasks within an area of Responsibilities • Prepare and maintain project quantities (piping material take off) • Prepare, maintain and meet requirements of project budget (prepare man-hour budget, maintain earned value report) • Prepare, maintain and meet requirements of project schedule and/or provide input to overall project schedule • Manage local and remote project design team (prepare work assignments, monitor performance, plan resource requirements, ensure proper training and development) • Develop and maintain project engineering database (intelligent P&IDs - COMOS) • Perform piping layout and routing, support • Perform stress analysis in Caesar II • Report proposed and final piping loads to structural team • Prepare and maintain piping isometrics, piping system isometrics, pipe support drawings,piping line lists, terminal point lists, valve lists, specialty item lists, support lists, piping bill of material, piping specifications • Ensure compliance with recognized standards, customer requirements and contract requirements • Participate in cross discipline design reviews • Prepare and maintain document deliverable packages • Maintain document database (ProArc) • Provide fabrication and construction support • Participate in PDMS model reviews with design team and customer • Travel to project sites, remote subcontractor locations, fabricator sites, customer locations • Check deliverable documents, review vendor packages,
Develop best work practices (continuous improvement in procedures and workflows) • Provide lessons learned from ongoing project experiences • Create, maintain, improve company piping standards
COMPETENCIES Education: Associates degree minimum Skills: • Strong computer skills required including: Mandatory software experience: Caesar II, PDMS, Excel, AutoCAD; additional software experience: Lotus Notes, COMOS, ProArc, general understanding of database functionality • Ability to work in fast paced environment • Ability to work effectively in a professional team. Experience: • Experience with ASME Section 1 Power Boiler Piping, B31.1 Power Piping and B31.3 Process Piping (routing, supporting, fabrication, erection). • Fossil fuel and biomass boiler experience a plus • Minimum 5 years lead piping design experience, 20 years overall in engineering
