Overview:
We are seeking a Design & Manufacturing Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing custom architectural signage and branded environments. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position requires engineering expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration with other teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable evaluating design, ensuring manufacturability, liaising with vendors while maintaining quality, efficiency, and cost.
What you'll do in the role:
• Review customer-supplied project documentation for requirements, feasibility and cost
• To meet customer requirements, make design choices based on internal capabilities, vendor outsourcing options and value engineering
• Utilize software to develop engineering models and shop drawings that define specs for our manufacturing facility and vendors
• Coordinate with both other teams to successfully meet requirements for each project
• Follow in-house drawing standards for uniformity and terminology
• Perform research for projects and speak with vendors to discuss projects
• Develop engineering process, collaborating on design standards, workflow and daily tasks
What you bring to the role:
• 5+ years working in custom manufacturing with direct experience in design and engineering
• 3+ years direct experience creating 2D/3D CAD drawings for products in Interior/Exterior Architectural industries, or other Custom Manufacturing.
• BSME
• Must have CAD software experience
• Experience with graphics packages and CAM software is a plus
• Previous worked in signage industry is a plus
• Experience and knowledge of job shop fabrication processes and how they can be used to create a finished product.
• Understanding of cutting, CNC milling, drilling, taping, brake forming, punching, finishing, painting, waterjet cutting and dozens of graphics application processes
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of hardware and hardware terminology, assembly/installation techniques
• Familiarity with common engineering req’s (dimensioning, tolerancing, annotations etc.)
• Proficiency in using 2D and 2D engineering software applications
• Persistent attention to detail, meticulous work habits and organization skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and make informed decisions based on job req’s
• Collaborative on product development and continuous improvement processes
• Familiar with CAM / CNC Setups and graphics software
• Cost assessment

Compensation:
$32 - $35 per hour
