Job Type: 12-Month Contract

Pay Rate Range: $61.67/hr to $80/hr

Location: Phoenix, AZ (On-site ; open to candidates in the West Coast time zone)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design System Engineer to join a forward-thinking team within the mining industry. This role is central to ensuring the seamless integration of design and development workflows, bridging the gap between visual concepts and functional code. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and scaling a cutting-edge design system while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Act as the critical link between design and development, standardizing UI components and design guidelines.
• Build and maintain the Modular Design System (MDS) using Flutter and Dart technologies.
• Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure the smooth handoff of specifications and the consistency of design systems.
• Critique and validate design specs, ensuring alignment with established standards.
• Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of design systems into the product development lifecycle.
• Manage version control and documentation for the design system repository.
• Utilize tools like Figma to collaborate on UI component creation and modifications.
• Advocate for and implement best practices for front-end development, including automated testing.

Required Skills and Experience

Hard Skills

• Proficiency in Flutter/Dart development.
• Strong expertise in front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
• Familiarity with design tools like Figma for UI/UX collaboration.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Knowledge of automated testing tools like Jest or Mocha.

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail to maintain consistency across design systems.
• Problem-solving ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Proven collaboration skills to work effectively across design and development teams.
• Time management to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of front-end development experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in building and scaling design systems.
• Previous experience in design and development collaboration using tools like Figma and Flutter.
• Proven ability to critique and align design specifications with technical standards.
