Development Engineer CCUS (m/f/d)

Corning’s Environmental Technologies Division (CET) is a world leader and one of the largest manufacturers of extruded ceramic honeycombs used as catalyst support for mobile emission catalysts and particulate filters. As part of CET´s continued investment in the future we have a large R&D program on Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU) applications, utilizing our expertise and capabilities in honeycomb extrusion and ceramics science. For our applied techn ology organization we are looking for a chemical or process Engineer (PhD or MSc) to establish and maintain product design and process engineering expertise for this CCU R&D program. Responsibilities: - Establish technical expertise in CO2 adsorption processes, carbon capture in general and downstream utilization technologies - Develop, maintain and apply process modeling tools to simulate the system performance of honeycomb based sorbents - Provide technical and economic case studies for selected applications, including benchmarking vs. alternative technologies - Develop and utilize robust component level models and simulation tools for product design and evaluation (e.g. Matlab based) - Utilize, operate and expand experimental test benches (e.g. DVS, breakthrough bench, mini-plants, ..) - Develop pilot testing capabilities, manage pilot trials and analyze results - Define, establish and manage test programs with external partners from academia and industry - Commercial technology interface with Corning internal R&D groups in the US, China and EU - Provide guidance on product design and value proposition - Monitor industry trends and alternative technologies - Technical interface to partners and customers - Represent Corning at conferences and industry events Requirements: - Chemical Engineer or Process Engineer o PhD in relevant technical area o MSc with some experience in relevant technical area - Experience in one of the following fields is desired: o Adsorption processes (gas separation, gas/air purification, etc.) o Numerical modeling of dynamic/transient processes and Matlab o Carbon capture processes/applications - Solid technical background related to heat and mass transfer phenomena, fixed bed processes (adsorption/reaction), separation processes, physical chemistry, numerical modeling, lab and pilot testing - Ability to work independently and self-motivated - High level of technical curiosity and interest in exploring new technologies - Interest in working as part of a global team - Good communications skills - Fluent in English Location / Travel Requirements: - The position is intended to be located at Corning GmbH in Wiesbaden, Germany - Some travel will be required related to conferences, visits to other Corning locations, project partners and customers Benefits: Value based cooperation Job in a value-oriented company with a wide range of tasks Compensation Fair compensation with bonuses as well as profit sharing and allowance for capital-forming payments Career development Internal and external development opportunities and the chance to grow Additional benefits Employer funded pension 30 days of vacation Recognition system for extroardinary achievements
