Our Development Engineer will work out of our Midwest Division, with the ability to work from home on a daily basis. He/she will serve as the technical resource to our Sales & Operations Teams and be responsible for identifying, analyzing and developing solutions to address issues and needs related to customer facilities. They will lead projects through development and manage all resources to ensure the project is delivered on time. Candidates should be willing to travel to project sites 20%-30% of the time within the Midwest region.
Development Engineer Responsibilities
- Conducts surveys of customer facilities and assess the current condition, operational performance and deficiencies of the building systems and infrastructure with Facilities Technicians and specialty contractors.
- Review building assessment materials populated into template tools utilized by the entire development team to ensure compliance with current energy and building codes.
- Calculates energy, rebate, and operations & maintenance savings associated with proposed improvements.
- Works cross functionally in developing and coordinating the technical and financial components of the project to include accurate cost and savings estimates.
- Participates in creation and delivery of written and oral presentations by leading the technical discussion and responding to questions by customer facility experts.
- Guide project development teams and customers in prioritizing solutions to improve functionality, operational performance, and efficiencies of their facilities.
- Coordinates with our design team for building assessment information and scope of work clarifications.
- Knowledge of K-12 funding opportunities and construction contract types.
- Knowledge of a variety of building HVAC systems along with emerging technologies.
- Mentors and trains Development Engineers and new employees.
Development Engineer Qualifications
- Experience in energy engineering, facilities engineering, design engineering
- Technical College Degree
- Professional Engineer License
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- General computer skills and proficiency on smart phone and tablet devices required.
- Experience with BlueBeam REVU
- Committed team player willing to plug in where needed.
Physical Requirements (only listed on job roles that require something out of the normal office roles)
- Ability to lift 20-pound tool and equipment bags.
- Ability to safety climb ladders and move over uneven terrain as necessary to access facility equipment.
