Job DescriptionJob Description JOB SUMMARY:The Standard Diesel Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance for over the road semi-trucks, trailers, and other diesel vehicles.
DIESEL MECHANIC RESPONSIBILITIES:o Running diagnostic tests on trucks, including refrigeration systems.o Analyzing diagnostic test results.o Replacing steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems.o Checking vehicle lighting systems.o Test driving vehicles to gauge performance.o Performing preventative maintenance on semi-trucks.o Maintaining detailed records of serviced vehicles.o Adhering to an inspection procedure checklist. o Ensuring the cleanliness of the shop.o Most of our work is Cummins and Detroit Diesel and Freightlinero Carrier and Thermo King refrigerated unitso We do some trailer body work, but extremely limitedo We work on trailers suspensions, dolly legs, etc.o Welding – both aluminum and iron DIESEL MECHANIC REQUIREMENTS:o Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Optional).o ASE Diesel Certification ().o Valid driver’s license required (CDL )o Aptitude for mathematics and science.o Advanced knowledge of diesel engine components.o Good IT and diagnostic skills. knowledge of Cummins and Freightliner diagnostic systems.o Physically fit and able to lift 100-150 pounds or more.o Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools.o Attention to detail.o Good interpersonal skills.o Excellent verbal communication and written skills.o Must own tools for the trade.
