We are Canyon AeroConnect an operating unit of TransDigm Group - located in Prescott, Arizona, for the past 50 years. Canyon stands as one of the worlds leading suppliers of avionic-standard aircraft communications, navigation and audio/intercom systems. Canyons products have been widely adopted and proven in-service across a wide range of civilian, paramilitary and military fixed-wing and rotorcraft applications.
Over the years, weve become known as the benchmark in aircraft tactical communication and audio equipment for Air Ambulance, Law Enforcement, SAR, EMS, Electronic News Gathering, Military and Marine applications. Products include digital and analog radio/audio management systems, Tac/Com, VHF/UHF radio systems, intercoms, data interface accessories, and aural warning.

This position is located onsite at our plant in Prescott, AZ and is not available for remote work. The successful candidate will join a team of engineers responsible for design and development of new avionics equipment including airborne radios for communication and navigation, airborne servers, audio control panels, audio management units, and other avionics instrumentation, along with some sustaining engineering of existing products.
Key/Core Qualifications:
- This engineer will be a digital design specialist with circuit design skills in the majority of the following areas;
- Digital design: circuit design using logic, CPLDs, FPGAs
- Substantial Microprocessor design experiences
- Bus experience, PCIe, USB, I2C, SPI, etc.
- Power Supplies, linear and switching supplies, in support of complex digital circuits.
- Details of board layout while you wont be doing the board layouts, you will be an integral part of the layout team and need to bring board stack-up and fabrication knowledge.
- Experienced and highly skilled using bench equipment; oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, network/spectrum/vector analyzers, power meters, etc.
- Experience with computer aided design tools
- Experience working in a requirement based environment
- Works to and supports schedules and metrics
- Ability to learn and apply multiple documentations standards and modify design packages with minimal clerical errors.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
- BSEE or equivalent.

Qualifications:
- Experience in avionics electronics development. These designs will be for avionics products and therefore need to pass testing in support of FAA and FCC certification. Previous design for government certification is a plus.
- Experience with DO-160 Qualification Testing,
- Experience with avionics design certification standards; DO-254, DO-178,
- Experience with Altium and CADDStar schematic capture and PC Layout
- Experience transitioning new products into the factory
