(Summit Re) located in Fort Wayne, IN and Roseville, MN. Summit Re is a managing underwriter that specializes in catastrophic medical excess of loss coverage, with an emphasis on managed care. Summit Re’s vision is to be the recognized leader and trusted partner providing innovative risk management solutions for entities bearing healthcare risk which include employers, HMO’s, provider groups, captives and other insurance companies.Position PurposeAs a member of the Summit Re team, you will be responsible for the sales, service, and administrative activities and relationship management to prospective and existing accounts specifically for the stop loss product. You will also evaluate, develop, and change the marketing strategy/plan to elevate Summit's products in the market. What You’ll Do: Identifies and qualifies new business opportunities/partnerships for winning new and retaining existing business.Develops, implements, and executes sales strategies and plans.Monitors the market to recognize market trends and competitor strategies/outlook. Researches and analyzes the value of products and services, and makes adjustments to keep in line with market.Develops, guides, and/or directs staff and ensures excellent customer service is given to employees, customers, management, etc. Monitors department performance and productivity. May develop policies and procedures, and communicates any changes or updates to staff. Ensures quality standards are met and identifies training needs of staff.To Qualify for This Position, You’ll Need:Bachelor's Degree or 4 years business and/or product development, marketing, or sales experience within the insurance or health care related environment.8 years business and/or product development, marketing, or sales experience within the insurance or health care related environment.3 years previous management or supervisory experience or equivalent military experience in grade E4 or above (may be concurrent with the 8 years).Department of Insurance Licensure must be obtained within 60 days of hire in state employed.Strong knowledge of marketing and/or sales principles, techniques and the marketplace. Proven ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of competitive practices in the marketplace. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and make sound decisions. Ability to persuade, negotiate, or influence others. Ability to direct, motivate, and assess performance of others.Microsoft Office.We Prefer That You Have:Experience with stop loss captivesExperience with regional health plans/HMOExperience with reinsurance (stop loss/self-funded/captive market)Demonstrated success growing a profitable block of businessAdvanced knowledge of self-funding and network within the self-insurance marketplaceMust possess strong negotiating and excellent written and oral communication skillsCollaborative approach in particular with Underwriting enabling successful team approachWork Environment: Up to 50% travel. May involve some travel over the weekend.
