SUMMARY: The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for overseeing and leading the HR function across multiple locations in three states. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, fostering a positive organizational culture, managing employee relations, and overseeing training, development, benefits, and HRIS administration. The Director will partner with leadership to drive strategic initiatives that support business objectives, while creating an inclusive, engaging, and compliant environment for all employees.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Regularly review and update HR policies to reflect changes in legal requirements.
  • Manage and administer employee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, and other state and federal leave laws, ensuring proper documentation, eligibility determination, and communication with employees.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and respectful treatment of all.
  • Investigate and resolve employee complaints, grievances, and conflicts, ensuring resolution in line with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maintain and improve employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Educate and train supervisors on handling employee relations issues consistently and in accordance with company policies, ensuring uniformity in approach across all locations.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to leadership on conflict resolution, performance management, and fostering positive workplace interactions.

Culture & Employee Engagement:

  • Foster and promote a positive organizational culture aligned with the company’s values and mission.
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement programs that enhance employe morale, retention, and performance.
  • Lead initiatives at promoting , equity, and within the workplace.

Recruitment & Onboarding:

  • Lead the recruitment strategy to attract top talent for all locations, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and culture.
  • Partner with leadership to develop clear and accurate job descriptions and establish hiring criteria.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are fully integrated into the company culture, trained in relevant policies, and provided with the necessary resources for success.
  • Track and measure recruitment metrics to continuously improve the talent acquisition process.

Benefits Administration:

  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement.
  • Provide guidance to employees on benefits-related questions, changes, and issues.
  • Work closely with external vendors and brokers to evaluate benefits offerings and manage costs.

HRIS Administration:

  • Oversee HRIS systems administration, ensuring accurate data entry, updates, and reporting.
  • Leverage HR technology to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure data integrity.
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports to support strategic decision-making.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Supervise and manage one HR team member - providing direct leadership, guidance, training, and support for their daily HR tasks and activities.
  • Collaborate across locations to ensure consistent HR practices and policies are implemented.
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and align them with organizational goals.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior management, offering insights and recommendations for HR improvements.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; SHRM-SCP or PHR certification .
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Proven experience overseeing HR functions across multiple locations and states.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, HR best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Walk, sit, bend and squat.
  • Talk and hear.
  • Grab, pull or bend items.
  • Lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs.
  • View items at a close and distant range.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Use computers for extended periods of time.
